It’s great to see that the short film format gets more and more promoted and recognized in India. I’m sure that projects like ‘Short Cuts’ have a great future, and although I think commercial Indian cinema has created a very unique style and language, there should be more alternatives to challenge the monoculture claimed by the commercial film industry. There must be space for both. If young and innovative filmmakers get a wider platform, then this will have an impact on commercial cinema and slowly change the perception of film in India. And by providing such a platform, filmmakers and visual artists get encouraged to realize their ideas and dreams. I’m looking forward to visit ‘Short Cuts’ on my next trip to India in winter.

'Short Cuts' is a good and necessary platform for upcoming filmmakers
of short and documentary films. It helps showcase the talent of
emerging filmmakers, which will hopefully generate more interest and
support for such films, which are often overlooked in comparison to
mainstream films.

Lucas to Ray, Trier to Coppola, Kubrick to Lynch and Mrinal Sen to
Speilberg all either started as short filmmakers or made short films
at some point in their lives. 'Short Cuts' is probably one of the
most progressive steps for filmmaking in India. Just the fact that
right from inception it has been able to attract the best and the
latest short filmmakers to showcase their movies is proof that it's on
par with the best of such platforms in the world.

We have lot of potential to be a part of the International Movie market. What we were lacking all these days is a good platform to get projected in the wide world of cinema. ‘Short Cuts’ is building that bridge in getting people together. The experience of getting my film screened at ‘Short Cuts’ and the response I got after that was simply amazing. I sincerely thank the ‘Short Cuts’ folks for giving me the opportunity to showcase my film and I wish ‘Short Cuts’ to grow enormously in the times to come.
